Balanced, with a sense of moderation and particularly nutritional, nutritionists throughout the world consider Greek cuisine the best dietary pattern.

1. Two words: fried cheese...

... or in other words - Saganaki. Graviera, yellow cheese or haloumi - fried cheese Saganaki highlights the seductive quality and taste of the cheese in a unique way.

2. Frappe-fredducino

Greeks were among the first to enjoy the stimulating effect of caffeine combined with ice. And, of course, against the background of the sea...!

3. The use of a large amount of olive oil is a healthy... hobby

In recent years, Greeks have been more careful with the use of olive oil: they do not "soak" their salad in oil and add it just before the food is ready, so that it can retain its nutritional value. They also enjoy the unique taste of bread dipped in olive oil sauce - healthy and tasty.

4. The best salad in the world

What does a salad need in order to make become more attractive and turn into a main course? A tomato, a cucumber, some oregano, several olives, some olive oil and cheese, of course! Arugula and parmesan are nice, but nothing can compare to the taste of freshly made Greek salad, especially in the summer.

5. Wine

Old people had a good habit: a glass of wine at lunch not only soothed them but it was "good for the heart," as they said. And this has been confirmed. Now, when the pace of life has changed, try to have a glass of wine at lunch at the weekend.

6. Cheese is the Greek national side dish

It is difficult to think of a dish which cannot be combined with cheese: great pies, all legumes, red sauces... Indeed, cheese can be combined with almost everything.

7. When they say a "dessert", they mean loukoumades!

How can one prefer a donut instead of freshly fried loukoumades topped with honey and walnuts? This is a "sinful" dish, like all sweets, but it contains nutrients and energy from the honey and walnuts. Not by accident, were they the dessert of the winners of the Olympic Games.

8. They go out to drink and eat dishes like these

Long before the fashion of meze appeared in taverns and cafes in Greece, regular customers ate grilled octopus, tzatziki and spicy cheese, meatballs and so many other wonderful appetizers - ostensibly poor cuisine, yet so rich.

9. They did not let tentacles scare them

Greeks have a huge variety of the most delicious octopus dishes, so they can have them together with their ouzo and tsipouro, as well as during fasting.

10. They use pastry in order to prepare their pies

And they have a huge variety of shapes and flavours: rural style, crunchy, or for baklava... All of them satiating and of good quality.

11. They eat slowly

Nutritionists insist on the slow pace of partaking of food but this rhythm has been followed for a long time in Greece. Eating is a wonderful process, so why hurry?

12. Tzatziki

Yogurt, cucumber, garlic, dill or mint: it is healthy and one of the most delicious dips in the world.

13. They know that food tastes better when it is shared

Family dinners, even if they are ridiculed, form relationships with the food and with relatives.

14. The quality of Greek honey is unsurpassed

You will not find honey with such a texture and taste anywhere else. Add it to yogurt or nuts and the result will be amazing.

15. Olives and grapes

Greeks have some of the best olive oil and wine in the world. They are good for your health but also for the economy.

16. Yogurt

You will not find a nutritionist who does not know the advantages of (Greek) yogurt. Eat it for breakfast, as a dessert with a little honey or as a snack during the day and the benefits to your body will be endless.
