After having thought for a long time the archaeological sights guards finally are inclined to work until late this evening, to enable visitors to the Acropolis, for example, to enjoy it in the moonlight. Today in the August full moon the Acropolis and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, the museum in Marathon and the sanctuary of Asclepius in the ancient Epidaurus along with 97 other archaeological sights throughout Greece will be opened for visits until midnight and concerts will be held in some of them.

Yesterday the guards of archaeological sights decided to mitigate their payment requirements and to work in the night to enable visitors to enjoy the sights in the moonlight. They officially stated that they wish the amount of pay to be transferred to the account of the Smile of the Child Foundation. They replied from the Ministry of Culture that this is impossible because it is a state institution and therefore can not make donations.

Walks in ancient places, parties on far beaches, romantic walks in the mountains but also concerts in squares and theaters will celebrate the most famous full moon this year. However, you choose to spend the night you will long to make it special for sure.

Here are some suggestions for concerts today, of free entrance, of course. The band Trifono   will present in the archeological sight Elevzina modern performances of songs of Pink Floyd, Beatles, Goran Brecovic, Leonard Cohen, Savopulos on Hadzidakis and Theodorakis and traditional songs from all over Greece.

The August full moon will be greeted with songs for the moon, as is the name of the concert, in the small yard of the Museum of Acropolis. The museum will be opened until midnight. The archeological sights in Corinth area have also prepared a program of classical music for the visitors to the temple of Zeus at ancient Nemea, and for those who choose to go to the walls of Akrokorintos or to the Temple of Octavian in ancient Corinth.

Let’s go to the square of Kisos in Pelion the mountains of Centaurs, where Natasha Bofiliu decided to perform three songs from her CD as well as some songs of Greek and foreign composers. In the yard of the Atanasakio museum in Volos you can listen to some New York jazz music on the Sergio Salvatore’s piano and the guitar quartet Epi Hordon Ke Taseon. Is is part of the Mediterranean City Festival 2010, which this year takes place in Volos for the first time.
