Clouds and winds are coming from the north, gradually spreading over the whole country. This morning, the temperature in Athens fell below zero and the wind will reach 7-8 on the Beaufort scale in the evening. Weathermen expect the snow to cover the whole country and even Athens. The municipality of Athens promises to provide special premises for the homeless where they can spend the coldest nights.
The traffic police report that circulation is only possible with tyre chains in many parts of the country - in Florina, Kastoria, Amfissa, Preveza. The ski centre in Kaimakchalan has been closed due to the large amount of snow as well as the roads on Mount Parnitha near Athens.

A 54-year old mountain climber has gone missing at the foot of Mount Flabouro near Kozani. On Sunday afternoon, the man called a friend of his on his mobile phone and told him that he had got parted from the group with which he had gone out onto the mountain and did not know where he was. Then, the phone battery ran down and there has been no connection with him ever since.

The civil defence service warns citizens to carefully follow the weather forecasts in the media and not to start travelling if not absolutely necessary. If they must travel, they should bear in mind the advice of the traffic police but the best option is to use the public transport services.
