Bulgaria defeated Greece in the game for the second Euro-African group of the Davis Cup. After Grigor Dimitrov and Dimitar Kutrovski’s two individual victories against Marcos Kalovelonis against Thodoris Angelinos yesterday, today the two Bulgarians played against Alexandros Yakoupovich and Markos Kalovelonis as a couple. Тhere will be two individual games tomorrow but they cannot change the result. According to the programme, Grigor was to play tomorrow, but after the already settled result, he is most likely to fly to France in order to get ready for the next tournament in Monte Carlo, which will also be held on clay courts.

The match went through a challenging first set which demonstrated Yakoupovich’s experienced play and the fact that Dimitrov and Kutrovski were playing together for the first time. The Bulgarians won 7:6 games. The Bulgarians were much better during the second and the third set and won 6:2 and 6:4.

Here is a moment from today’s match:

"I am very happy with the victory. I congratulate the Greek team and thank everyone who supported us and all who helped this happen," said Grigor Dimitrov after the game.

During the two days of the match, the talented Bulgarian was surrounded by a crowd of fans and admirers. "It is not easy to be an object of such attention. You are trying to do the best in every situation and be yourself," said Grigor.

Grigor has real celebrities among his fans.

President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee and world high jumper champion Stefka Kostadinova, who is also among Grigor Dimitrov's many fans, had also come personally. "I am very happy with the victory because our boys played as a team. I've watched Grigor at many tournaments around the world, but this was the first time I have watched a team competition, at which there were so many Bulgarians in the audience," said Stefka Kostadinova. See what the famous Bulgarian athlete said:

The disappointment of the hosts was great because they failed to finish even a set. "The first set was crucial. The Bulgarians started quite passively, while I and Marcos started very strongly. We lost because of trifles. If we had won the first set, the Bulgarians would be under psychological pressure and the result could have been different," was the opinion of Alexandros Yakoupovich.
