The former Minister of Culture and Foreign Affairs of Lebanon, Tarek Mitra, analyzed the events of the so-called "Arab Spring" and stressed how important it is for battles not to last long and to find those leaders who will promote peace and tranquility there. He said, "Although the availability of energy sources is what determines the Arab countries, it could in no way eradicate the need of people for freedom and democracy. This is because except for the social benefits they require, they rarely have the chance to get close to and understand the economic prospects of their countries. It is not possible to achieve social peace when free dissemination of ideas and personal development do not go hand in hand with economic prospects."
