Insulting and offensive is probably the most common phenomenon in our human world; it is even more common than praising, encouraging and congratulating. People say that we can forgive but not forget, but this is actually not forgiveness. We have not forgiven, especially if we have not yet been able to return the insult. Today's article is about the ways in which we take revenge when we are offended and insulted. There is an interesting pattern: we tend to quickly and easily "forgive" someone's kindness, but rarely try to respond to it properly. We somehow automatically think that good deeds are gratuitous, i.e. they are something which does not need retribution, remuneration and compensation, or at least not necessarily, but only in case we have the opportunity. On the contrary, deep insults are always hard to forget and we literally look for a way to return them at any cost.

The most common phrase which we use when we are offended is "You are going to pay me for this." The meaning of these words shows that we feel as if something which is very expensive and valuable for us has been destroyed. And those who destroyed it must pay us.

In astrology, the things we cherish most – both tangible and intangible - are defined by the position of Venus, the second house in our personal horoscope, and Taurus, which is the original second sign in the zodiac. Usually only wonderful things are said and written about Venus, such as love, values, beauty, grace, etc. Of course, they are correct, but this is not the full picture. The Aztecs and Mayans associated Venus with violence; the planet symbolized not only love, but also war. So, if we want to understand what offends us most deeply and causes a desire for revenge, we should seek precisely "wonderful" Venus in the horoscope.

Practically, however, the position of Mars in the personal horoscope is responsible for the ways in which we take revenge for an insult. Mars shows how we act in life, how we fight, how we get what we want, etc. We can make the following analogy: "Venus wants, and Mars acts".

In astrology, this planet is classified as a rogue and a symbol associated with troubles and problems. Actually, this is not true. Indeed, it is bad when a person is injured or in trouble. But what can be bad about a person fighting for his or her rights and winning a competition? This is again symbolic of Mars. In practice, a person with a less active Mars in his or her personal horoscope can be very good and not engage in trouble, but his or her victories in life will be insignificant, as well.

Therefore, if we want to know how we would take revenge when someone has insulted and offended us, we should take into account where Mars is situated in the horoscope – the position in the zodiac sign, the house position and aspects of other planets. I would like to say it once again - the urge for revenge is not catalysed by Mars, but by Venus. If we want to realise the extent to which a person is vindictive, it is necessary to take Venus into account. Very often, when the position of Mars in the horoscope is somehow "sinister", this fact actually carries only positive things for the person - he or she is simply not vindictive, but combative and guides his or her actions towards achievements, and not towards a "sweet revenge."

I will describe the information which the position of Mars gives us according to the sign and house in the personal horoscope in terms of how we act and what tools we use in order to make it up to those who have offended us. The sign position of Mars tells us "how" we do it, as well as how much strength and momentum we “invest” in this. The house position tells us what tools we use, and what “equipment” we have and put into use.

Mars in Aries or in the 1st house

You act absolutely directly and often offend and insult others. If you find yourself in a situation which is offensive to you, you proceed to strike back without delay, not looking for someone else’s support, help or advice. You respond to the insult almost immediately and you are not afraid of conflicts of any kind. The “tools” you use are directness, honesty, and sincerity, and you do not think about what is acceptable and what is not. Often, you can use your fists or any object which falls into your hands in a moment of anger. It is generally recommended that those who have decided to insult you should watch their head - literally. Your personal power is the first and foremost tool which you use. You rarely suffer offensive situations deeply, since you react violently in the very first moment and others are just always careful from then on.

Mars in Taurus or in the 2nd house

There is still nobody who is able to invent an effective “curb” for you in a moment of revenge. There will never be someone on earth who will be able to take something from you which you think is your property without being paid properly. You do not stop until you destroy everything related to the person who insulted and offended you. You move slowly, methodically, without hurrying. The “tools” you use are mostly financial ones. You will destroy everything which is dear and valuable to the other; you can break his or her favourite objects, dispose of them or take them back even if they were a personal gift from you. It is not enough for you just to return the insult, you are able to take revenge and cause continuous damage to the property of the offender for life.

Mars in Gemini or in the 3rd house

You are flexible and adaptable people, and that is why even your desire for revenge quickly changes its direction. On the one hand, this makes you forget the insult and not take revenge. But on the other hand, you are able to act somewhat diversely and inconsistently. Furthermore, you are masters of deception and often those who have offended you think that they have got away with it. However, it is a fact that you have a very special advantage over everybody else – symbolically, there are two of you, i.e. it is easy for you to find helpers for the revenge. The “tools” you use are mostly verbal and informational ones. You know how to use your speech deftly and tactically and you choose the exact moment, coupled with the precise words, and in this way you become a person who can ruin someone without using force or fists. Your sarcasm and irony are unsurpassed. You aim your revenge at the environment (neighbours, relatives, etc.) and adherents of those who have offended you and you can literally make them unable to thrive in their daily environment.

Mars in Cancer or in the 4th house

You are the most difficult people to predict when it comes to revenge. Your most distinctive feature is that you give absolutely no indication that you are offended. Others can even be surprised to see you as the kindest man on earth: humble and unable to insult and take revenge. However, sooner or later, they will experience the biggest surprise in their life. You will wait for the most appropriate moment in order to catch them with your strong “claws” and tear them to pieces. You act silently, while monitoring and following your “victims”, and take revenge in an absolutely unscrupulous way. However, you never hit them directly and they do not even have an idea that you stand behind the trouble which befell them. Your revenge is aimed at their sleep, home and inner comfort.

Mars in Leo or in the 5th house

Figuratively speaking, you are the most harmless people when it comes to revenge. However, others rarely realize it. Probably only the closest people realize it in time. When you are offended and offended, you react in a somehow royal manner: you raise your head and proudly leave the scene of the insult. Your reaction is very fast and direct, but resembles a theatrical diva who prefers to withdraw in a dramatic and spectacular manner, with a behaviour saying that it is beneath her dignity to deal with people who insult her. And wasting your time with revenge is an act which is even more unworthy. For you, revenge consists of total neglect and disregard of the "inferior" who has insulted you. You chase them away from your "royal palace", depriving them of your love and the pleasure they had with you.

Mars in Virgo or in the 6th house

Your ability to take revenge, fight and win battles is often overlooked. You act very moderately, practically and realistically. You do not take revenge or engage in combats which you cannot win. Therefore, sometimes you just swallow the insult and move on when you find yourself in a situation which you are unable to win. You do not acknowledge anything but victory. You do not spend your energy in vain and always investigate all options, in order to see whether your chances are good. The “tools” you use in order to take revenge for an insult include your incredible criticism. You estimate the weakest points of the other sharply and accurately, hitting mercilessly precisely there: you refuse assistance in the most critical moment, drowning in criticism when your support is expected. You can literally make the other sick, unable to work, or even unemployed.

Mars in Libra or in the 7th house

You are people who are trying to avoid direct revenge by all means. When you are insulted and offended, you react in such a way, so that the other could start to like you and apologise in a certain moment for having offended you. You remain passive and even though you are offended, you do not start looking for revenge. However, while responding with kindness and gentleness to insults, often you do not feel satisfied and seek revenge later in time. At such moments, the "fire and thunder" are so powerful that you can unintentionally "kill" not only the one who has offended you, but also some completely innocent people caught up in the perimeter. The “tools” you use include mostly the intimate and peer relations of those who have offended you – you aim your revenge at their partners and associates, interfering in their contractual relations, love and intimate relationships.

Mars in Scorpio or in the 8th house

Astrology claims that when revenge is concerned, you are famous for your absolutely amazing ingenuity and that you hold the championship of vindictiveness. Indeed, people unconsciously treat you with more caution, since all your actions, even the most innocent ones, signal "watch your step". You always take insults as if it were a matter of life and death. On the rare occasions when someone crosses the line and offends you, he or she may expect a brutal revenge. All means are allowed. You prepare yourself carefully and very patiently for the moment in which you will deal such a devastating blow that the other person will not even be able to move. The most common techniques which you use include financial damage to those who have insulted you. Or, you are able to seduce those who have offended you and make them fall in love with you and then reject them in the cruellest manner.

Mars in Sagittarius or in the 9th house

You act very directly and idealistically, almost quixotically. When you are insulted and offended, you react immediately and assume a position of open and honest confrontation. Revenge is not quite the right word for you, since you act not in order to return the insult, but in order to protect your pride and defend your honour. The “tools” you use are reputable, without any hidden or secret moves and plans – you will offer an open discussion and you will want to “fight” sometimes even physically. You are even able to make the situation comic and funny, so that those who have offended you will just apologize and it will never occur to them to offend you again. Once you have completed the matter, you do not return to it anymore. You respond to insults quickly, but you resolve them almost as quickly.

Mars in Capricorn or in the 10th house

You usually react violently and sharply even to the mildest insult, as if the world has collapsed. Of course, you do not show this outwardly. However, if people could look inside you, they would surely be scared to death by the rising storm. Of course, you start planning your revenge immediately, considering it methodically, carefully and precisely. You approach the "top" step by step and definitely nothing can distract you from your intention to return the insult. You know well that when one is patient, he or she eventually achieves what they desire. The “tools” you use include unusual courtesy to the person who has offended you: you treat them with some amazing kindness, while looking for ways to put them in a degrading social status in front of people who respect them. Or, you try to prevent such people from possible professional success, and you may even damage their image and relationships with reputable people.

Mars in Aquarius or in the 11th house

You are the most unpredictable people in terms of the ways you act. When you are insulted and offended, there is nobody who is more creative than you. Firstly, you are honest in an absolutely unpardonable way and it often seems as if people do not believe that you are serious and think that you are just kidding. Your reaction is always shocking, unexpected, and unusual. It could be even said that you show a certain type of genius when taking revenge. Your revenge is always destructive, like thunder and lightning. You 'hit' mostly in the circle of friends, supporters and helpers of those who have offended you and you do it in a particularly cool manner, so that the life of your insulters can never be the same again.

Mars in Pisces or in the 12th house

You actually rarely resort to tangible acts of revenge. You act somehow very finely and subtly in life, more mentally than physically. When you are offended and offended, your behaviour does not show this at all: you do not react, giving the impression that the insult has passed you by without touching you. The “tools” you have and use are primarily of the “psychic attacks” type which the other often does not realize; something like a Chinese water torture – a quiet and light drop which is slowly dripped onto a person's forehead every minute, but which can provoke a serious mental disorder. You strive to strike different things, especially feelings of guilt and fear into those who have insulted you. Your revenge consists of making those who have offended you cross their personal boundaries, suffer losses or experience some personal downfall.
