It is expected that the first summer heatwaves will be in Greece in the middle of the week. Temperatures will rise throughout the country, and in some regions, they will reach up to 39 degrees Celsius.

The increase in temperatures will begin on Wednesday in Western Greece where, in some places, thermometers will show between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, the heatwave will spread in the eastern and southern regions of the country and temperatures will rise to 39 degrees Celsius.

The heat will be most noticeable on Thursday and Friday in the Thessaly region, the eastern part of central Greece, Evia, Attica, the Peloponnese, Cyclades, Dodecanese and Crete.

It is expected that the heatwave will pass away fairly quickly, as a weak northerly wind will cool down the weather in the following days.
