Former Ambassador of Greece to Bulgaria in the leadership of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation

Former Greek Ambassador to Sofia Michalis Christidis is elected Secretary General of the Permanent International Secretariat of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC). A message of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that he will take office on 1 July this year and his term runs until 30 June 2018.

The voting that elected Christidis took place yesterday in the office of the secretariat in Istanbul. The result is due to be formally ratified at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States, which will be held on 18 June in Chisinau.
 
Michalis Christidis ended his successful 37-year career at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2014. He has held various posits as a member of the diplomatic staff of Greece in Tripoli, Zagreb, Naples, Sofia and Milan. He was Ambassador of Greece to Bulgaria in the period 2000 - 2002, in Turkey (2002 - 2005) and in Argentina (2008-2012).

He has been a member of the Committee of Senior Officials of the organization since 2013 and was elected its coordinator during the Greek Presidency that ended at the end of last year.
