The Greek national team managed to beat Turkey in a very close game, and secured their place among the top 4 teams at the European Basketball Championship. Greece will now have to face Spain in a semi-final which will be played tomorrow at 7:30 pm.

The thrilling game took place in the Polish town of Katowice. Almost 3 minutes before the end, the Greek team was trailing Turkey with 6 points behind, but Pridezis and Zisis’ constant offensives helped the team regain the lead and win by 2 points. Spanoulis scored some stunning 23 points for Greece while Turkoglu and Onan both scored 13 for Turkey.

The Greeks started the game cautiously, with obvious tension among the players. The Turkish team on the other hand showed confidence and composure, dominating the game and the score. Sofoklis Skortsianidis’ entry had a strong psychological impact on the Greek team, and they started regaining dominance in the game, while Turkoglu’s consistent performance kept Turkey in the match.

In the last seconds of the game, Greece turned out to be the luckier side and managed to retain their composure and exit the game victorious.
