Greece exports various products to the USA, ranging from pipes to olives and from razor blades to vermiculite mineral, and the country is the main supplier of these goods.

The impressive rise in Greek exports in the last three years has also been shown by exports to the other side of the Atlantic. And those exports are not only limited to feta cheese, yogurt and olive oil.

"Trump cards" of Greek exports, with a perspective for a further penetration into the huge American market include aquaculture products and in particular sea bass. Greece is the major exporter of sea bass to the USA with a market share of 80%, its share in the market of olives is about 72% and the main export product is oil and gas pipes, for which the export value amounted to more than 115 million euro last year.

According to a recent report from the Commercial Department of the Embassy of Greece in the USA, Greek sea bass and sea bream are products the popularity of which is constantly growing on the USA market and they boast exceptional value for money.

Olives are one of the most important Greek products in the USA and the country in turn is the most important export destination for Greek olives. Olives, according to the report, are very popular among American consumers and offer significant opportunities for an expansion of the market share. The value of Greek exports in 2012 amounted to 58.08 million euro. Greece’s strong competitors include Italy, Turkey, Spain and Morocco.

Continuous improvements are being observed in exports of dairy products. In certain categories like cheese made of curds Greece was the only importer to the USA in 2012. Of course, it is a low value import. But in total, Greece is the third major importer of sheep's and cow's milk cheese to the USA with a market share of 15% and 18.4%, respectively. These categories have marked an 82.3% increase compared to 2011 and exports amount to 7.8 million euro.

Not only food, but also manufactured goods occupy a significant place on the American market. Greece holds steadily the largest market share of 29.2% in oil and natural gas pipes made of iron or steel. In 2012, exports increased by 103.7% compared to 2011. Moreover, Greece was the third largest importer in the USA of razor blades, and the value of exports amounted to 63.3 million euro in 2012.

Greece is the largest importer of mineral vermiculite to the USA. This is one of the materials used for insulation purposes and is commonly used in fireplaces, and in hydroponics (in which plant roots are not planted in soil, but in water). In 2012, the value of Greek exports to the USA reached 39.1% and the country is followed by South Africa.
