At the same time, the Greek authorities recommend that all who are going to visit one of the countries in West Africa, including Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria should postpone their trip if it is not urgent. If it is urgent, the authorities advise people to take strict measures to avoid being infected with the deadly Ebola virus. In particular, they should avoid contact with any type of biological material (tissue, blood, semen, saliva, etc.) and contaminated objects, have safe sexual contacts and avoid eating meat from wild animals and others.

At border points of the country, especially at airports, those airlines that fly to and from these countries should take special security measures specified by the health services.

The Ministry of Health indicated that the situation among immigrants in the detention centres in Greece is under control. In addition, it informed that the percentage of people from West Africa who illegally enter Greece is very low, as the latest data show that only 1 of 6,500 cases has been recently recorded.
