Shooting of the French film "A Greek Summer” began in early April on the island of Milos, continue on the island of Sifnos and finish in Athens in June. This time, Emir Kusturica will stand before the camera staring as a Greek fisherman and his associates will be few pampered pelicans. Just kidding!

In fact, Kusturica will indeed play in this international production of Greece, Belgium and France, in which team participates the French comedian François Demeson Javi, and with the prodution is in charge Olivier Orleans. Seven pelikans are however not spoiled at all - they just need to follow a diet and eat only Dutch fish, or else they might get sick. So especially for them arrived two tons of fish, and training them to perform well and be obedient during the shooting of the movie has been undertaken by members of the team of director Zack Perrin, who have worked with him in the most poetic documentary about animals - „Air Nomads – the secret of the migratory birds”. Pelekanite are on the Greek islands for about two months to adjust to climate conditions in Greece and to prepare for filming.

The story of the film is based on the book by Eric Buaset "Nikostratos" which tells of a boy from Greece who befriends a pelekan, about the boy's relationship with his father who is a fisherman (Emir Kusturica) and about the heat of his first love . Very recently, filming Kusturica on the island of Milos finished and the team moved to the island of Sifnos, where a specifical village was created for the training of the pelikans and all over the island are spread posters of one pelikan who speaks with the residents of the island.

Kusturica leaves from Greece in early May, but the shooting of the film will continue until early June. In the film also stares the very well-known in France comedian François Javi Demeson, who was born in 1973 in Paris and started his career in New York.

On the part of the Greek team take part the actors Genadios Patsis, Dinos Pondikopulos and Vicky Marangaki as well as Panayiotis Kalantzopoulos who will compose the music for the film. In cinemas throughout the country the film will be presented in the spring of 2011 from distributors Feelgood Εntertainment.
