The parliamentary commission for the Vatoped real estate investigation expects abbot Ephraim and his assistant Arsenii to testify today. Even though the two monks were summoned by the Sveta Gora police, none of them has said whether they will attend the session or not. If they show up, it will be the first time they will answer questions face to face about the monastery real estate deals. The Greek media doesn’t rule out the possibility the two monks to appear only to give out a previously prepared statement and to refuse to answer to any questions.

On Tuesday, Thessaloniki governor Panaiotis Psomiadis is called to testify. According to council Tania Sotiropoulou, who has protected the interests of citizens who are harmed by the deals of Vatoped monastery for years, Psomiadis advised her not to deal with the monastery, because behind everything is the prime minister himself Kostas Karamanlis.

Meanwhile, the oppositional member of the commission PASOK, asked for the immediate opening of bank accounts of those connected to the real estate Vatoped deal. The socialists want more than anyone, to open the Cyprian offshore bank account RASSADEL, in which the 50 million Euros go after the sale of the Olympic site in Athens. According to them, the Cyprian authorities have already asked for the approval of the Greek authorities to open the bank accounts but haven’t received an answer yet. The socialists threaten that they will not sign the commission’s report unless the accounts are open.

As grreporter.info informed you, the investigation commission for the Vatoped real estate deals started working on October 30th and will have to show its report on December 15th. The commission consists of 23 parliament members from all parliament represented parties.
