A violent crash of a car, an intercity bus and a truck with a Bulgarian registration plate, which happened in the Tembi pass, near the toll station, at about 10:30 pm on Monday, took the life of one person and injured 17.
The car driver, Michalis Ziogas, aged 45, passed away. Witnesses say that he tried to overtake the bus, which was travelling to Thessaloniki, entered the opposite lane and crashed into a truck coming from Thessaloniki, sweeping away the bus.
Cars of the traffic police, fire service and ambulances from all over Thessaly had immediately arrived at the site of the accident. All injured parties are currently in hospitals in Larissa - 13 in the regional hospital and 4 in the general hospital, which was not on duty on Monday night but had admitted the victims of the crash.
The little 6-year-old daughter of the car driver and two more passengers in the car, probably his wife and another child of the family, were among those injured. The others were travelling on the bus.  The truck driver, who was also injured, is hospitalized too and he is undergoing infusion therapy.
The Tembi pass is temporarily closed due to the accident and will be reopened after the wreckage of the vehicles is cleared.
