The report states that one out of every five pets in Greece is the victim of harassment, either intentional or unintentional. Abandoned animals are also at risk due to the poisons placed on the streets to kill them.

"Many famous clothing brands indicate on the labels that they use artificial leather. However, China's market annually exports two million skins of dogs and cats for this purpose and the animals suffer unspeakable abuse and horrible methods such as ripping off their fur while they are still alive."

Animal rights advocates emphasize that despite their efforts, tens of thousands of animals worldwide are victims of abuse by handlers in the circus, hundreds of thousands are killed for their fur for clothes, thousands of wild animals are killed for consumption and their young die as a result of lack of food and care from their parents. Due to increased fishing and consumption of banned species, some types of fish and other marine animals are threatened with extinction.
