A midnight voting of the Greek Parliament decided for the establishment of a committee to investigate the actions of Former Minister of Finance George Papakonstantinou. He is accused of having tampered with the content of a list of tax evaders. The list was provided by former French Finance Minister and current Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde.

265 deputies from the 300-seat Greek Parliament supported the establishment of the commission. It will consist of 15 members and will have to submit its report no later than 25 February. The majority of MPs voted against the establishment of a parliamentary committee which will have to investigate the other suspects in the affair of the "Lagarde List" - President of PASOK and former Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos and former Prime Ministers George Papandreou and Lucas Papademos.

In late October, publisher of the "Hot Doc" magazine, Kostas Vaxevanis published the "Lagarde List". Since then, its content has become a dominant theme in the Greek internal political life.
