Over 30 thousand people supported Greece’s staying in the euro zone and the European Union despite the summer storm over Athens. People were pushing their way from the underground station to the square with difficulty.

The powerful demonstration demanded the resignation of the government and personally that of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

One of the first slogans that appeared tonight was a teaser with failed finance minister Yanis Varoufakis.

Here you can see live what is happening in Syntagma Square:

Despite the summer rain, tens of thousands remained in the square to listen to the guests of the demonstration, namely Athens and Thessaloniki mayors George Kaminis and Yiannis Boutaris who have initiated the Committee for the European future of Greece.

Olympic champion Pyrros Dimas is expected to speak before the tens of thousands of people.
