In October, the world is interested in the U.S. presidential elections. Who will be the next global leader? Today I will write about how the individual horoscope tells whether a man is capable of being a leader. In its essence, leadership is nothing more than a combination of two things - the ability to dominate over others, to influence them, and the ability to make them follow you. Only those who are able to influence people and make them follow them can be called leaders. There is a very funny aphorism that if you think you are a leader, but there is nobody following you, then you are just going for a walk.
We can speak of leadership in almost every area of life: from the smallest social unit - the family - to leadership on a large scale - government leaders, leaders in politics. The leadership factors in the horoscope are complex and no conclusions can be drawn from the sun sign or a given planet alone. The Sun, the Moon, Mars and the corners in the horoscope - the Ascendant and the Medium of heaven (MC) - are the most important.
There were times when power and leadership weren't given by the people - royal crowns were inherited and power was undeniable, it did not depend on votes and mandates and it was practically unlimited. This is the symbol of the Sun - the undisputed ruler over everything and everyone on our planet. That is why the Sun in the horoscope is an important factor for the prestige and power a person can naturally achieve. The Sun in the signs Leo and Aries is in the best position and if you were born under these zodiac signs, you think that it is your natural due to come into undeniable and unlimited power over everybody who happens to be around. Of course, the same thing can be observed in the rest of the zodiac signs as well, but it is not as innate as in these two signs.
Today, however, power is obtained on a different principle - it stems from the vote of the people and it is not unlimited and may be taken away. This is the symbol of the Moon. Therefore, the Moon is also a very important factor and in today's world it is the more important planet in terms of power. The Moon represents popularity among people and today this is an essential condition for any leader. The Moon is in an extremely strong position in the signs Taurus and Cancer. And usually people with Moon in these signs get popularity in a very natural way. The question, however, is what kind of popularity they achieve. I remember Bill Clinton, in whose horoscope the Sun is in the sign Leo and the Moon is in the sign Taurus. I guess the first thing you will immediately remember is the infamous Monica Lewinsky story.
Mars is the third most important planet. It symbolizes how and where we put our energy received from the Sun, what we stand for, how we prove ourselves. A leader is first and foremost a fighter. And this is impossible without Mars. Mars indicates how we fight our way in life. In politics and state, however, curbing this energy is a necessary condition. In other words, Mars in a strong position (in the signs Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn) is not always a guarantee for success, because it really brings a great fighting spirit, with the charisma of a person in action, but this charisma is also too selfish and incongruous with the others. And that is not tolerated by the people giving the power.
The Medium of heaven (MC) is the highest achievement in our lives - our reputation, the authority and power to which we aspire. This is our personal aspiration and our personal sense of self.
The Ascendant is the way in which we represent ourselves in society. It specifies how the others see us and the way we want to represent ourselves in society. Regardless of the position of the Sun, the Moon and Mars, if the Ascendant doesn't allow social "visibility", the leadership covers only a very narrow range.
Since ancient times the sign Libra in the Ascendant has been considered as the most favourable for leadership. This is the sign of diplomacy, the sign of cooperation and partnership. As a consequence, the seventh house in the horoscope also has immense importance in terms of skills for communication with people, negotiations and agreements. Libra is the central of all the air signs, to which Gemini and Aquarius belong as well. These three zodiac signs - Gemini, Libra and Aquarius - have a major significance when it comes to policy, leadership and public activity. They are related to people and humanity as a whole. Of all the signs in the zodiac, they are the most strongly related to relationships between people and especially to the desire for power, for domination and leadership over a group of people. Consequently the 3rd, the 7th and the 11th houses are also given a great importance in this connection.
If you have carefully followed everything so far, the conclusion is this: for leadership, it is important for the signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius to be accented, but also Aries and Leo as secondary signs because they bring the natural attitude that they were born to lead and to get power by default. The 3rd, 7th and 11th houses need also to be accented, as well as their relation to the Sun, the Moon, Mars, the Ascendant and the Medium of heaven. As an additional condition, it is necessary for one of these three planets to be located in a corner position - around the axes in the horoscope Ascendant / Descendant or MC / IC.
Whether a person has innate leadership qualities is something different from the way he or she will apply them. There are leaders in every sphere of life. But how can we tell whether someone will be a leader on a large scale - in government structures and politics?
This is a more special question, and I will briefly mention the most important things. Then, I will give a specific example of the people taking part in the biggest political battle in November - the current U.S. President Barack Obama and his rival Mitt Romney.
1. We are starting from the Moon Nodes, in order to find out whether the man has a place in big politics, business areas or regular society; whether his way is individual or if it has more to do with people and public activity. If you want to read more details on this, refer to my articles about the Moon Nodes. In this article, I will give information only about the examples.
2. How are the Sun, the Moon and Mars positioned? In which signs do the Ascendant and the Medium Coeli (MC) fall?
3. What is the position of the planets responsible for the social stratum in which the person will live? These planets are Jupiter and Saturn. Saturn indicates the person's frames of movement within society - where his or her origin is, to which social stratum he or she belongs, the type of environment and activity which are the most suitable for him or her. Jupiter indicates how the person will participate in this society, what is his or her attitude towards this environment and social belonging.
4. How is Pluto positioned? In the horoscope, this is a special planet (although astronomers have degraded Pluto as a planet, astrologers still consider it as such). The house it falls into indicates in which areas a given person will be really enthusiastic to have a great impact on people and to achieve power - the bigger, the better. Whether it is for good or bad is another matter. Pluto in astrology doesn't make such a difference in humane and human aspect.
Now I will make a brief analysis of the horoscopes of both presidential candidates - Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. The data are taken from the official astrological database of Lewis Rodin. Its reliability rating is the highest.
I am starting with the current President Barack Obama.
1. Moon Nodes – North / South Node.
They are positioned in the sign Leo, the 7th house and in the sign Aquarius, the 1st house, respectively. This automatically brings us to what is the most important in Obama's life - the challenges are in terms of social development and relations with others. Personal power, will and initiative are challenged to be directed towards the benefit of others, of social groups. These kind of people are the ones who play the role of "guardians and protectors" of society. The North Moon Node in the 7th house is related to the stratum of power. This is the path of the people involved in administrative and executive power. These are governors, legislators, judiciary, men and women of power, public defenders (including the military). The people who take care of the common good, welfare, peace and harmony in society - the people of the "public figure" type, those who are given power in the name of the people.
2. How are the Sun, the Moon and Mars positioned? In which signs do the Ascendant and the Medium Coeli (MC) fall (the highest point to which the individual aspires)?
The Sun is in the sign Leo - Obama is naturally set-up to "reign", to receive power and to shine. In addition, the Sun is in a corner position around the Descendant (the 7th house) - it is extremely well positioned and focused on putting its energy in people, in communication, in leadership and diplomacy. For Obama, the sources of life energy are the people and communication with them.
The Moon is in the sign Gemini, the 4th house. Again in a corner position, in a sign associated with humanity and power over people. This position also indicates gaining of popularity with extreme ease.
Mars is in the sign Virgo, around the top of the 8th house. In this sign Mars is ruled by Mercury (the logical intellect). This makes him a "curbed fighter" who does not react impulsively. The position at the top of the 8th house gives him extraordinary qualities to make his way in life - Obama certainly knows how to break down even the soundest walls, to make his way into the nature and abilities of others, to find the most appropriate place for everyone.
The Ascendant is in the sign Aquarius - the public perceives him as a defender of the common good, an expert in human nature, innovator, full of ideas, someone who knows how to "awaken" and how to push on reforms.
Medium Coeli (MC) - in the sign Scorpio, ruled by Mars and Pluto. This point indicates the highest point to which we aspire and which we can achieve. The sign Scorpio indicates attitudes towards maximum influence and power in the sphere of realization.
So far, it turns out that the dominant factors are related to human signs and houses, responsible for leadership and power in society - Gemini, Libra and Aquarius / 3rd, 7th and 11th houses. The two planets have corner positions and MC is ruled by the "warrior" Mars and the power aspiring Pluto.
3. What is the position of the planets responsible for the social stratum in which the person will live? These planets are Jupiter and Saturn.
Saturn is located in the sign Capricorn - the sign of structures, state and law, the stratum of those who construct. The environment and the activity which are best suited to him are related to climbing the social ladder and participation in administrative and state processes.
Jupiter is positioned in the sign Pisces - a sign associated with large communities and revolutionary reforms. The two planets are in a conjunct, called "royal", a great junction in ancient times. People with such a conjunct often go outside the social stratum in which they were born. They are natural rebels and always strive to break the social and societal frameworks, imposed on them. They become excellent diplomats, ideologists, leaders and politicians.
The house, in which the two planets fall, is the 12th - the house of sacrifice, but the house of backstage way of life as well, which is very typical of the realm of politics. One of the most interesting things about astrology is that the 12th house and the sign Pisces are very strongly associated with the ability to influence people subconsciously and are often present as an accent in the horoscopes of prominent public figures.
4. How is Pluto positioned?
Pluto is a generational planet (its stay in one zodiac sign is within about 20-25 years), therefore the house position is more important. In Obama's horoscope, it is in the 7th house - again associated with relationships between people and especially with the desire for power, for domination and leadership over a group of people.
Now let's see what things in Mitt Romney's horoscope look like. Then, I will make a brief prognosis about who has more chances of winning the battle for the presidency.
1. Moon Nodes – North / South Node.
They are positioned in the sign Gemini, 1st house and in the sign Sagittarius, 7th house, respectively. Again, we have the same themes as in Obama's case, but reversed - Romney has a talent to work in service of thers and of public groups. And the sign, in which the North Node is, indicates that the personal strength is acquired through power. But unlike Obama, Romney's path has less to do with communication, than with personal will, personal manifestation and personal creativity. Power is desirable, but more difficult to achieve, since the main theme of Romney is self-proving and individuality, authoritarianism rather than partnership and cooperation. The Moon Nodes also show that Romney stands out very easily and has some magnetism for others. Take his appearance, for example - there is something like a "defect" in it, which gives him, however, more "effect" than usual, making him noticeable and interesting.
Compared to Obama, Romney has much better abilities to gather people around himself. But this is a talent which is focused on personal manifestations, individualistic acts, and not on mutual and collective ones.
2. How are the Sun, the Moon and Mars positioned? In which signs do the Ascendant and the Medium Coeli (MC) fall (the highest point to which the individual aspires)?
The Sun is in the sign Pisces in the 11th house - Romney does not have the natural setting to "reign" and to exercise power. Pisces is the sign of sacrifice, but the house of backstage way of life as well, which is very typical of the realm of politics. Power is often necessary for other purposes. The 11th house, however, is strongly associated with the desire for power, for domination and leadership over a group of people.
The Moon is in the sign Scorpio, at the top of the 7th house. The sign of the Moon has nothing to do with leadership, but more with satisfaction of feeling your power and control over the others. In this sign the Moon is very special - it speaks of the need to handle the possessions of others, to be in a position from where you have an access to these possessions and rights to distribute them. Moreover, the Moon is in a conjunct with Jupiter, which further strengthens it. It is in a corner position, indicating gaining popularity with extreme ease.
Mars is in the sign Pisces, 11th house, together with the Sun. The combination of the Sun and Mars endows a man with enormous energy, activity, permanent action, it gives busy-ness. Romney's business set-up is absolute. And he has a great desire to lead, to rule, but in a somewhat authoritative manner - as in a time of war, when the General's word is a law. This provides a very good ability to fight, to make quick decisions, but democracy has no place here - "If you want us to win, you must obey my orders." This conjunct in the 11th house, gives Romney a lot of good qualities to act quickly in emergencies. It also gives him strategic skills, and if it comes down to when someone has to pull the people out of crisis situations, he can be irreplaceable as a leader. But this has another aspect as well - it makes him quick-tempered and impatient, lacking ability to realize the human factor around himself and it brings a lot of authoritarianism.
The Ascendant is in the sign Gemini - communication, information; a very sociable, cooperative, responsive and flexible person. Society perceives him this way.
Medium Coeli (MC) - in the sign Aquarius, ruled by Saturn and Uranus. Aspirations are to be a part of social processes which affect large groups of people. And a desire to stand out with something individual, to dominate over these groups. Although the sign Aquarius is the sign of humanity, it is not a prerequisite to mingle with the crowd. On the contrary - there is an aim to stand out with an idea, a cause, an innovation and novelty.
So far, it turns out that everything is mainly associated with human signs and houses, responsible for leadership - Gemini, Libra and Aquarius / 3rd, 7th and 11th houses. Power, domination and power again.
3. What is the position of the planets responsible for the social stratum in which the person will live? These planets are Jupiter and Saturn.
Saturn is positioned in the sign Leo, at the top of the fourth house - the natural sign of power and royal crowns. The environment and activity which are the most suitable for him are related to strata, in which he has unlimited power, authority and prestige. In this position, however, Saturn is not well positioned, indicating a very vulnerable reputation.
Jupiter is positioned in the sign Pisces - a sign associated with the possessions of others, with the financial structure of society, an access to the collective resource and its management. This gives Romney a very good financial sense, flair for capital and its movement.
The two planets are in a trigon aspect (120°), which explains the ease with which Romney moves across the business world and power without having an urge to get out of the stratum, in which he was born.
4. How is Pluto positioned?
Pluto is a generational planet (its stay in one zodiac sign is within about 20-25 years), therefore the house position is more important. In Romney's horoscope it is in the 4th house - a very special position. The fourth house is associated with very strong traditions and patriotism, with roots and family. This indicates participation in processes which create a new base, a new foundation on a large scale. This house is not directly related to the impact on people. Rather, it gives a focus on a hidden, inner power. A power, which is fundamental and unshakable.
So, now for the most important question - who will win the elections?
Undoubtedly, Obama and Romney are people who have gifts for leadership on a large scale. Each of them in a different way, of course. In summary I can say that Omaba, as a leader, has the ability to guide people in new ways, to inspire them with ideas, to provoke dreams of a better future, to create a good working team. His leadership position is directly related to the masses and their union around a common cause, with the transition towards new horizons and opportunities. And Romney is another type of a leader. He is authoritarian, tending to seek one-man power and control. In addition, however, he has the ability to pull people out of crisis situations and to push them towards building a solid foundation, towards turning ideas into reality. Obama is a person of the modern age. Romney - a person who is keen on past and present.
Different methods of predictive astrology are used to assess the chances of a victory. This is the most complicated section in astrology and it is understandable that it is impossible to describe the way in which conclusions are drawn.
Obama, on the election day, is at the very beginning of a new period of life, and Romney is at the end of one. The period in which Romney lives does not imply success in worldly and material life. It started in 2008, when Romney lost the battle with McCain. At the moment this is still topical - it is not his time to take the highest possible position.
Obama is starting his new life period with extremely beneficial opportunities to assume responsibilities and to perform his duty - to himself and to the society in which he lives. His chances to remain president are extremely good.
