Joe Valencia, who is chairman of the Philippines community Kasapi also expressed the Philippines support to the strikers. He said that contrary to the popular belief that most of the Philippines had documents, thousands of them lived in Greece without residence and work permits. "Our struggle is common. We are all humans and we have the right to live with dignity," said Mr. Valencia. After the press conference, when all rose from their seats, one of the immigrants apparently got dizzy and fainted. An ambulance had to be called because the man could not recover for a long time.

Yesterday the government had an "intelligence meeting" as it called it on the issues of immigration. Suggestions were made without taking decisions and there will be another meeting in the next ten days. One of the proposals is for greater flexibility in the number of days on which the immigrants are insured annually and on this base to be allowed to apply for documents or residence and work permits. This would help immigrants who must annually renew their residence and work permits not to lose their right to renew them if they have no enough workdays during the year. Especially in time of crisis, when there is less work and given that many of them are self-insured or are paid in wages this would help them not to lose their legality. In addition, at the government meeting were submitted proposals to punish employers hiring illegal immigrants. In parallel, the Ministry of Employment and the Interior will introduce a framework for categorization of illegal immigrants George Petalotis said that  there would be neither mass, nor special legalization of immigrants without fulfilling the requirements of the law. He also added that they would stand firm because nothing could manipulate them.
