Anyhow, the problem with immigrants is just as Greek as it is all-European, but Europe has not yet found a solution either. Today, another fishing boat capsized off the Libyan coast, carrying about 700 migrants from Africa. Hundreds of them are feared to have drowned. Up until now, the Italian coastguard has managed to rescue about a hundred. 2,000 people have drowned this year in their attempt to reach Europe – these are the tragic statistics. Some European countries, however, are fairly reluctant to accept immigrants on their territory. For example, Britain has committed itself to taking in only 187, while Germany is set to become home to 30,000 Syrians.
