Three children drowned in the Aegean Sea after the boat by which they were travelling capsized near the Greek island of Agathonisi. The accident occurred at dawn this morning, the remaining passengers were rescued, no people were missing. There were a total of 23 people on the boat and 20 of them arrived safely at the island of Samos. Both the bodies of the drowned children and the surviving passengers were transferred on board a ship of a non-profit organization.

Meanwhile, the number of refugees in northern Greece is increasing. Authorities in Kavala report that over 30,000 refugees arrived in the city in the period from July to December 2015 alone. Most of them left for Thessaloniki by urban or tourist bus and taxi. The authorities specify that, in the first days of 2016, the number of newly-arrived migrants sharply declined and currently does not exceed 300.
