The National Statistics Service announced this year tourism figures in Greece showing no rise compared to the previous year. According to the Tourism Development Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos this is a positive fact meaning that the Greek tourism has not been influenced by the global economic crisis. Only the tourist arrivals from Bulgaria, Russia, Poland and Romania have increased their total number, reaching one million, with tourist arrivals from Russia up more than 40 per cent compared to 2007. This year the number of luxury cruise vessels arriving at Greek destinations was also more than 10 per cent in comparison with the last summer. Minister Spiliotopoulos said a lot of efforts are being made for the high quality service of the cruise clients so that this positive tendency may continue next year as well.
