The film "Xenia" has impressed the audience at cinemas in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Serbia, Croatia and Mexico, and received good reviews from critics. It will soon conquer cinemas in America and England.

The decision for "Xenia" to apply in the first selection round of films to be included in the 88th award ceremony of the American Film Academy was taken by the relevant commission at the Ministry of Culture.

So far, Panos Koutras’ film has participated in over 30 festivals worldwide, including the 67th Cannes Film Festival, the 49th Festival in Karlovy Vary and it has applied for the Lux Film Prize 2014.

The feature film directed by Panos Koutras, who is the author of the screenplay, tells the story of Danny and his brother Odysseas, aged 16 and 18 years respectively, who are beginning a journey from Crete to Thessaloniki after the death of their mother, who was of Albanian origin. Their goal is to find their father, a Greek, who left them when they were children. Foreigners in their own country, they are determined to convince him to recognize them so that they obtain Greek citizenship, but also take part in a television talent show, which will secure a better life for them.

During the 6th award ceremony of the Hellenic Film Academy, the crew behind "Xenia" said they would not receive their prizes if "the law on the citizenship of second generation children does not pass first."

"Xenia" won six awards, three of them for the best feature film, best director and best screenplay. Panos Koutras (director and screenwriter), Panagiotis Evangelidis (screenwriter), Eleni Kosifidou and Alexandra Bosiou (producers) refused to accept their awards for the reason previously mentioned.

Director Panos Koutras gave the award to four children, who were born and raised in Greece, but who have not obtained Greek citizenship.
