“Alps” by Yorgos Lanthimos with award for best screenplay at the festival in Venice

The film "Alps" by the Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos won the "Osella" award for Best Screenplay at the film festival in Venice. Under the script lie the signatures of the director himself and of Efthimis Filippou. This is the fourth film of Lantimos, who triumphed last year over the international festivals with his other title "Dogtooth". There as well the scenario was the result of the joint work with Efthimis Filippou. In his speech after the award presentation the director did not spare his criticism of the conditions in which the Greek cinema is forced to develop.
    The big winner of the 68th edition of the Venice Mostra is the film "Faust" by Alexander Sokurov, which won the Golden Lion. The award for best film director won Shang Jun Kai for his film "Ren Shan Ren Hai". Michael Fasbeder was awarded the prize for best actor for his role in Steve McQueen’s film "Shame", and Deanie Ip - the prize for best actress for her role in the film of Ann Hui "Tao Jie". Chairman of the artistic jury was Darren Aronovski.
    "Alps" by Yorgos Lanthimos will be aired in Greece on 27 October.
