The worldwide exhibition “Water for everyone” is arriving in Athens on October 21 until December 30. It will be located in the Athens Music Hall. The exhibits aim at stressing the importance of the environmental issues and trigger visitors’ personal responsibility towards preserving and maintaining earth’s water resources. The exhibition is taking place under the auspices of the Greek Industrialists Union and Evgenidio Foundation, with the association of the French embassy and the French institute in Athens. Evtimis Vidakis from the Greek Industrialists Union stated that “the preservation of water, energy, as well as that of biodiversity, together with changes in climate, is a challenge we all have to face together.” Vidakis added that “it is a specific challenge because of its international character and a solution that should be sought in cooperative action on regional level.”
Evtimis Vidakis is chairman of the Sustainable Development Program- civil organization with an idealistic goal, created in 2008. Its members mainly consist of representatives of the manufacturing industry–participants in the Greek Industrialists Union. Their goal is to familiarize people with the positive environmental-protection practices. The display is part of a series that will be presented by the Union in order to inform and educate the public on the idea of sustainable development.
Together with the exhibition, a two-day international symposium on “Development and Water: global challenge for local governments” will take place. Participants in the event will be scientists and specialist from Europe, Australia and USA, as well as experts in the field of effective allocation of water resources-globally and locally-from the World Bank and the United Nations.
