A strong earthquake rocked the Peloponnese shortly after 09:00 pm today. The quake was felt in Athens too. Ten minutes later an aftershock was registered, of 3.1 on the Richter scale.
According to the Athens Geodetic Institute, the epicentre was about 25 kilometres southeast of the town of Pyrgos, just 11 kilometres away from the archaeological site of Ancient Olympia. The depth of the seismic focus was about 5 kilometres.
So far there have been no reports of damage and casualties.
