Events: April 27Video Portraits 5 April - 7 July 2013 Robert Wilson is a choreographer, director, artist, sculptor, performer and video artist. His VOOM series consists of 43 videos which he conceived, designed and directed between 2004 and 2009. The video-portraits interweave photography, film, literature and sound to comment on the history of portraiture as a genre. Although his heroes appear static, they evolve gradually, indeed almost imperceptible, in a way which arrests the viewer’s attention. The videos star famous actors, artists and authors including Mikhail Baryshnikov, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, Johnny Depp, Marianne Faithfull, Salma Hayek, Isabelle Hubbert, Jeanne Moreau, Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, Isabella Rossellini... Relics tell the story of the fight in 1821 If you are planning to visit Thessaloniki soon, you will have the opportunity to see the rare exhibition of relics from the period of the Greek liberation revolution in 1821. It displays the original swords and guns of the heroes of liberation – George Karaiskakis, Ioannis Makriyiannis and the original document of the "Society of Friends" (Φιλική Εταιρεία) with the signature of his leader Alexander Ypsilanti, which announced the beginning of the revolution. The exhibition is held at the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace in Thessaloniki. Used photographs 1985-2013 "Used photographs" is a photographic exhibition by Kostis Antoniadis that the Benaki Museum in Athens will house from 18 April to 26 May this year. It presents photographs of urban and natural landscapes, portraits and abstractions collected in the period 1985-2013. They express fragmentary images of the city that explore the feelings, the desires and the experiences of the photographer over the years. The exhibition is divided into eleven parts that reflect the various stages of Antoniadis’ work. 138, Piraeus Street in Athens.
