The mother of Alexis Grigoropoulos whose murder had provoked mass protests throughout Greece has given birth to a son at the age of 51. Gina Tsalikian gave birth last week and the child's father is Andreas Konstantinou. He became popular in the Greek public domain as a close family friend and representative after a policeman shot and killed Alexis on 6 December 2008. Konstantinou was the man who constantly supported the mother of the boy, who was 15 years old at the time, until the completion of the trial against policeman Epaminondas Korkoneas.

According to the Greek media, the friendly relationship between the two had gradually grown into a love affair. However, no one except their closest friends had been aware of this over the years.

Because of his involvement in the drama of the family after the murder of Alexis, Andreas Konstantinou could go out with Gina Tsalikian without anyone being aware of the fact that there was something more than a warm human connection between the two. Their child was born five days ago and the news appeared in the media although neither of them wanted publicity.

It is expected that Gina Tsalikian will finish her book about Alexis after the happy event and the first few months of the life of the new family member as reported by the electronic edition parapolitika.gr. According to informed sources, she stopped writing because of the pregnancy and risks of mental stress.

Other sources say that Alexis's mother wanted to slow down the writing of the book in order for her to be able to look at the developments from a different angle. It is expected that Gina Tsalikian will describe how she felt on the day when she lost her child from a police shot in Exarcheia. The mother wants to present her child as a perfectly normal teenager who lost his life in an absurd way and without any reason.

The book will probably contain personal revelations about the developments and details that have not been made known to the public. There are plenty of sources claiming that Gina Tsalikian has discussed the publication of the book both with publishing houses and with one of the largest Sunday newspapers, whose publisher has expressed his great desire to distribute the book by Alexis Grigoropoulos’ mother.
