The creditors want to remove farmers’ special privileges. According to SKAI TV, the goal is to change the manner of taxation and repeal the 13% tax on their income. Under one possible scenario, it will be jacked up to 33%.

The measure is aimed at savings worth €500 million. Other benefits are also likely to be slashed, eg. subsidised fuel for agricultural machinery.

Agreement or end of the road on June 18

Greece wants an agreement as fast as possible. June 18 is the date of the Eurogroup meeting. It is considered a final date, because that day both the European Stability Mechanism and the German Parliament will deliberate, with Greece as the main item on the agenda.
