Friendship created by art can change the world. This beautiful idea lies in the conception of the international exhibition AhensArt 2010 hosted by Athens Technopolis. Art is not just an alternative. It is one of the bridges between humans as a tool of communication, especially in our times full of clashes. The more the time passes, the more the Greek capital dives in art, said the organizers of AthensArt 2010. The participants in the exhibition also want to see Athens as the capital of art. The international creative event is organized for the first time but is already a huge success. More than 250 artists from 50 countries exhibit their works in the exhibition halls of Technopolis and attendance exceeds the expectations of the organizers. The topic is really particularly relevant. Everyone tries to show in their own way that the relationship between people and emotions, which art creates, can change the world.

AthensArt 2010 is a particularly interesting event. Its starting point was the foundation of the Center of Arts 4 Seasons (CA4S) by the contemporary artist and philosopher Takis Alexiou. At the bottom of the concept lies the desire to organize an international community of artists who strive to change the world peacefully, creating peaceful and friendly relations among themselves through their art.

“The 4 Seasons group exists as a cultural center since the early 1980s. This is a cultural community having broad goals and its president is Takis Alexiou. The spirit of the exhibition is the friendship between artists. The exhibition enjoys great success. We intend to organize similar events every year from now on. We have an invitation from St. Petersburg for the next year and from China for the year after the next. We plan to make an exhibition in Athens again after three years” – tells the staff at Technopolis. “The expositions are mixed. Presented are the works not only of artists but also of sculpturers and photographers. The halls are constantly full of visitors although we did not expect this at all. Many other activities are organized in the frameworks of AthensArt 2010 such as experimental theater, body painting ... The world famous pianist and musical director of the Athens Conservatory Garufalis Aris played for the opening of the exhibition.” Numerous cultural events are held in parallel with the exhibition. The program contains lectures, theater performances, concerts, traditional Brazilian music and dances, drawing lessons for children. A conference on “Friendship can change the world through art” will be held in the day of its closure.

Takis Alexiou was born in Alexandria, Egypt. He completed architecture in Germany and wrote a pioneering work that established the connection between architecture and psychology. He read lectures at European universities and was lecturer at the HfG Offenbach University in Germany, but also in AUA University of Athens. He has participated in individual and group exhibitions in Venice, Dresden, London, New York, Tokyo, Istanbul, Stockholm, Cyprus and others. He is the author of numerous articles, studies and books. He is one of the 2000 intellectualists of the 20th century awarded by IBC of Cambridge.

AthensArt Exhibition 2010 will last until 15.09. It is open for visitors every day between 10.00 am and 10.00 pm. The entrance is free.
