The authentic tango is to be danced with passion!

Are you ready to turn round in the rhythm of tango and enjoy the authentic Argentinean orchestras and dancers? Then come to the first five-day festival of the Argentine culture and the first official European competition for Tango, which will be held in early June in Athens.

The TANGO ACROPOLIS festival is the first major festival dedicated to the Argentine culture within which a competition for dancers will be held under the auspices of the World Mundial del Tango in Buenos Aires! The new festival is organised with the support of the Argentine Embassy, ​​the Ministry of Culture of Argentina, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Greece and the Municipality of Athens in Zappeion Megaron between the 1st and the 4th of June and you can watch the finals of the competition in the Badminton Theatre on the 5th of June!
 
The five-day festival will begin at 12 o’clock at noon every day. The first part is the competition and in parallel there will be exhibitions of photographs and works of art inspired by the magic of tango, free tango lessons, market & tango bar, traditional dishes and Argentinean drinks. Each night there will be surprises for the audience and world renowned Argentinian dancers will be invited, milonga and Tango fashion shows will be also organised.

Argentinian groups like Otros Aries, Sexteto Milonguero, the singer Pablo Banchero, the dancers Gloria & Eduardo known to the Greek audience will take care of the music every night.

How to take part in the TANGO ACROPOLIS 2011 competition?

The dancers (professional and amateur) who want to compete in the categories Tango Salon and Tango Scenario will have to apply for participation until the 15th of May in order to take part in the competition for the cup and in the finals of Mundial de Tango, Buenos Aires in August 2011.

- Milonga with live music performed by the world famous Argentine singer PABLO BANCHERO

Saturday, June 4thZappeion Megaron

- Third competitive round - semi-finals

- Parallel events (photo exhibitions, art works, free tango lessons, film screenings, tango market)

- Milonga with live music performed by Greek and Argentine tango DJs

Sunday, June 5th - Badminton Theatre

- Finals

- Concert of the world-renowned orchestra OTROS AIRES and festive milonga for the completion of the festival

Tickets prices:

Daily ticket (10:00 - 21:00): 10 Euro (access to the parallel events and the competition)

Night ticket (22:00 - End): 20 Euro (access to the milonga)

Day pass (10.00 - End): 25 Euro

Four-day ticket: 70 Euro (not including the entrance ticket for the Badminton Theatre)
