The greatest day of summer, at least for the fans of rock, came. Jon Bon Jovi and his band will perform for the first time on Greek stage within the World Tour Open Air 2011, based on their last album Greatest Hits - The Ultimate Collection. The long-awaited concert will take place at the Olympic Stadium.

Bon Jovi is one of the greatest rock bands in the world and this definition includes the term hugeness, which the band has been supporting ever since the 1980s when touched by the glory for the first time. The New Jersey band continues to be very popular, being true to the fundamental principles of rock and roll almost as much as their other great compatriot Bruce Springsteen.

During its long career of at least three decades, Bon Jovi has changed its style trying to stay within the hard rock framework, even when there are typical American country sounds in its songs. Moreover, the fact that the composer team of Jon Bon Jovi, Desmond Child and Richie Sambora adds a sense of continuity in the songs of the band contributes to the success of the album Bon Jovi, released in 1984 or the Slippery When Wet in 1986, and according to some other posts, to the recently released Circle.

Going back to the 1980s, we see the huge impact the album Slippery When Wet had on the international pop music market. Actually, the emergence of Jon Bon Jovi and his message to "the MTV generation” is one of the events that put hard rock in the category of popular music. The album had more sales than U2’s Joshua Tree or Michael Jackson's Bad, even than Appetite for Destruction of Guns'n'Roses.

Jon Bon Jovi himself has always dreamed of becoming a rock star and made great efforts to achieve it. The success came in 1983 - 1984, when he made the band; it took his name and released the first self-titled album with the big hit Runaway. Then followed even bigger hits and the albums 7800 Fahrenheit, Slippery When Wet, and of course New Jersey, which put the group on top of Monsters of rock in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The slight differences in the style of each member of the band have not prevented Bon Jovi from acting as a team to this day. "The power is in the group" is the principle, which has always attracted and is still attracting the young audience, and John knew very early that his place is with the group. The most important ingredient, however, is the dynamics of their songs, which since the Wanted Dead or Alive are being enviable shiny and modern.

When the album Greatest Hits - The Ultimate Collection was released last year, all their great moments found their place in it. This is also the focus of this year's tour, which is sufficient to attract all their old and new fans to the Olympic Stadium.
