The State Council approved three presidential bills, which recognize the medical diplomas of Bulgarian and Romanian doctors, dentists, and pharmacists, who can now practice their professions freely in Greece. The three presidential bills, which are approved by the Greek Supreme Court, clearly define the procedure, which will recognize the Bulgarian and Romanian graduate medical education. Another procedure is also defined, which will legalize Bulgarian medical diplomas and the doctor's specializations. It is the same as the one, which legalized diplomas of the 10 new EU country members.
In order to be finally enforced, the presidential bills need to be printed in the Greek State newspaper. The diploma recognition applies only to Bulgarian and Romanian citizens and not for foreigners, who have graduated from medical universities in Bulgaria or Romania.
