Cabbies raise their prices from Monday

Travelling by taxi will cost us more from next Monday. The new measures pinned the service in the highest VAT band of 23%. Until now cabbies only had 13%.

And indeed they are worried because work has shrunk dramatically anyway over the past four years and the trend stays the same. "We are now made tax-collectors and have to slap higher prices," complained one of them.

The trip to the Thessaloniki airport is burdened with another €3.44, while journeys to and from other airports – with €2.83. The minimum charge outside Athens will be €3.69.
