The Chamber of Greek Industrialists distributed “Ten urgent measures for overcoming the growth of unemployment”. The measures were officially given to the minister of labor Andreas Loverdos from the chairman of the Chamber Dimitris Daskalopoulos. Today Andreas Loverdos visited the offices of the Chamber for the first time and such visits will become regular, where topics like labor, social security and unemployment will be discussed.
The Greek industrialists are offering an immediate lending of state subsidies for the weakest layers of the society and an increase of social aid with 25%. They want the decrease of tax burden for business enterprises, in order to cover social security of employees in cases where this is necessary or when opening new job positions by the end of 2010.
The Chamber of Greek Industrialists is insisting for financing of all associations, which offer training and additional qualification of their employees in the period 2009-2010, and channeling all processes for lending credits to firms and enterprises, which aim to keep and increase job positions.
After the meeting Andreas Loverdos refused to answer any questions by journalists. The main subjects, which the minister pointed out, were the grey economy, retirement age and the increasing unemployment level. Dimitris Daskalopoulos expressed his satisfaction from the meeting and said that the union is ready to cooperate with the government on the road for improving the economic situation and added: “We believe that together we can really contribute for decreasing public expenses and improving services and care for the simple citizens.”
