Cleaners of the Ministry of Finance still remain on the street

The Greek Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the appointment of the dismissed cleaners of the Ministry of Finance for 13 October 2015.

The decision on the postponement was made with the consent of the defenders of both the cleaners and the Greek state. So, until October, the 660 women will not be reinstated in their jobs, despite the assurances on the part of the new Greek cabinet.

The postponed hearing seems to await the introduction of a bill that will reinstate the cleaners in their jobs.

It is worth noting that reinstating in their jobs the employees, who have become a symbol of SYRIZA, was one of the commitments of Minister of Finance Yanis Varoufakis. In their cause, they were supported by their recent colleague and present MEP of the radical left Kostadinka Kuneva.

When Varoufakis took on the department, he said that the money required for the appointment of the cleaners would be saved from the cost of consultancy services.

Over the past 29 days after the elections, however, the Ministry of Finance has hired one of the most famous international consulting firms, Lazard, which prices its services highly.

At the same time, the Greek media claim that the cleaners, who have informally agreed with the government to await the settlement of the issue of reinstating them in the Ministry of Finance, will still remain on the street.
