Participants in the protest shouted slogans against the central police management and urged them to resign. The Vice-President of the Greek government Theodoros Pangalos who recently stated that "the uniformed officers are the least productive unit of Greek society" became the object of their attacks too.

A message in response to unionists’ statements was released a little later by the Central police station in Attica. It states that all departments and units were informed immediately after receiving the signal for the robbery of the pavilion in Menidi in the call center. It highlights "the specifics of time, road traffic and the location of the police action" in relation to the driving capacity of patrol cars compared to motorcycles. "The means of transport of the Greek police that took part in the police action are in good condition for participation in police operations," concluded the message.

The chasing of heavily armed criminals by five young police officers on motorcycles caused political dispute between the government and the main opposition party New Democracy hours after its bloody outcome. Violent disputes about whether the equipment and training of officers is sufficient and effective unleashed in lively discussions in the morning TV blocks. The Deputy Minister of Citizens Protection Manolis Otonas said in an interview on Real FM Radio that the tragic death of two police officers should not become the subject of exploitation by trade unionists and opposition. At the same time, he did not actually answer whether the helmets and armoured vests of Greek police officers are good enough to protect them from the shots of criminals chased by them.
