AKEL’s General Secretary Andros Kyprianou blamed the government for the decisions of Eurogroup on Saturday morning. He noted that President Anastasiadis and the government had said that this measure would not be adopted, but were unable to prevent its adoption. According to Kyprianou, it would be disastrous for the Cypriot economy. Speaking to the Cyprus National Radio about the decision of Eurogroup, Kyprianou said that his party had not been officially informed about the results. It was from the media and Internet that they had learnt about the results. The pressure, according to him, had started as early as 7 December 2012, when the previous government had been requested to carry out privatisation and cuts in deposits, although not in agreement. According to Kyprianou, Europeans are imposing their political views in a revengeful manner, because Cyprus has better living standards and has attracted foreign capital.
