Antonis Samaras also added that New Democracy has "achieved what no opposition party has: to change the government and the Prime Minister before the expiration of the mandate. Instead of having the government of Papandreou for another two years, we will have elections in three months."

Yesterday members of New Democracy confirmed that their party will support the government, focussing on international affairs and defence matters. As they noted, this was also the reason Stavros Dimas and Dimitris Avramoroulos, the new ministers of foreign affairs and defence, respectively, were the final choice of leader Samaras for the two key ministries, because he believes that in these two areas milestones are expected both internationally and in the near future.
