With a loss began its participation in the World Cup championship the national team of Greece. In a game that did not have a particularly encouraging effect, it lost by 0:2 from the team of South Korea. The white-blue team did not lack chances to score. Korean defense, however proved to be a major obstacle. Furthermore, the luck was also not on their side...

The game started with a strong play by the Korean team. It set the tone for a fast and dynamic football which by the end of the game did not change. The attempts for a goal by South Korea were crowned with success during the sixth minute. The forward Lee Jung Soo sent the ball into the goal post of Dzorvas once it passed behind Haristeas. To the goal scored Greece responded with a massive attack attempts. Unfortunately none of them ended successfully. Defenders of Korea were taking away the ball from the Greek forwards every time it was located dangerously close to the goal post. Thus the chances for a goal of the players Torosidis and Samaras ended with a failure and with... a ball stopped at the feet of the Korean defense.

The team of Korea made it clear that it aims to secure a victory by scoring a second goal. They had a very good chance for a goal in the 13th minute when Dzorvas was outside the goal post, but also in the 14th when he saved the ball.

Followed the uncompleted phases for a goal of Gekas. The player was keeping the ball for too long and eventually it was going far out of the opponent's goal post. At the end of the first half his attempt to score made also Haristeas but unfortunately Korean goalkeeper saved the ball. The first half ended with a score of 1:0 for the team to South Korea.

The second half started with more aggressive play by the Koreans. Their stubborn pursuit of a second goal ended with success. During the 7 th minute due to a mistake of Vintra the ball ended up right in the goal post of Dzorvas. Unfortunately this time he stood too far away to save the phase.

This was also the point at which it became clear that victory for the Greeks from the first match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium was getting further away as an idea ... Greece, however, increase their attacks, and “woke up” as a whole. The fast and aggressive game of Korea, however, proved to be a factor which the national team failed to overcome. Fanis Gekas and Salpingidis had good positions to score. However, they failed to complete the phases that were created. The Koreans on the other hand were greedy to pursue even a third goal. A great chance to score and reach a score of 3:0 had the player Park Chu Young. Young directed the ball with a headshot at Dzorvas’ goal post, but fortunately it passed over the it.

Followed a wonderful pass of the ball from Salpingidis to Kapetanos. The phase was almost a certain goal. Kapetanos however sent the ball far above the goal post and thus his goal remained only a dream ... In a similar situation "ended up" also Torosidis. Only few meters away from the goal post and instead of passing the ball to one of his three teammates, he tried to score himself. A quick end to the phase put a Korean defender. After few minutes another attempt to score by Park Chu Young saved the goalkeeper of the white-blue.

Over time it became clear that it will be harder for the Greeks to make up for the loss. A fact which remained unchanged until the end.

The next matches of the Greek national team will be played on 17.06 and 22.06 against the teams of Nigeria and Argentina respectively.
