The art center “Hellenic cosmos” will be hosting the exhibition “Miro in Majorca” from the end of February. The exhibition is organized with the cooperation of the Teloglion Foundation of Art at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the foundation Pilar I Joan Μirό in Majorca and will last until May 30th, 2010.

The exhibition will contain important paintings from the period when Miro is painting in his studio in Majorca. The canvases made with oil-paints from his mature period present the living and precious inheritance which he has left behind. At the exhibition will present also paintings from the period between the years of 1976 – 1981, works from the Els Gossos (the dogs) series, Gens de la mer (Sea people) and the series Fundacio Palma as well as pictures of Jean-Marie del Moral and of Francesc Catal-Roca from Miro’s studio in Majorca.

“My dream is to settle somewhere when I become successful and to have one very big studio and plenty of space and many paintings. I would like to try doing pottery, prints and to have a press” says Juan Miro in 1983.

Parallel to the exhibition some pictures from the studio of the artist will be exposed on the Athens airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”. A curator of the exhibition is Marios Eleftheriadis. The exhibition is organized under the aegis of the President Karolos Papoulias and the Spanish embassy in Athens.

The exhibition will be opened from February until May 30th, 2010.
