After having presented my astrological forecast for the whole of 2014, in today’s article I will present the astrological picture for the period 1 – 31 January. I will start as usual with the general picture as a whole and then I will make individual forecasts.

In the previous article I informed you that in December we witnessed a rare astronomical phenomenon - Comet ISON’s close passage to the Earth on 26 December. Comets have always been thought to be a harbinger of the world's biggest events which remain in history. They cause unusual temperature variations, soil infertility, political conflicts and changes in state territories. In addition, they are carriers of germs and viruses and result in the emergence of unknown diseases. The number of days of the comet's visibility (with the naked eye) defines the number of months during which its impact on terrestrial events will last. This covers almost the whole of 2014.

In December there was an active deployment of a new social subject, related to our choice regarding what is worth saving and what is worth taking care of so that it can survive. New priorities were being created, while important and significant things were sinking into oblivion and no one wanted to take care of them anymore. December also posed serious internal restrictions affecting people’s creativity as a whole – expressing themselves, bringing new ideas and generally contributing something to society.

At the end of the month, after 20 December, "the queen" of love, beauty, dignity, self-esteem and values, would start its retrograde phase, which happens once every 18 months and lasts for about 40 days. It is not uncommon as an event, but it occurs in different signs.

What will the first month of 2014 be like?

The New Year will start with a New Moon. It occurs in a section the meaning of which is "immortality and invincibility." This is a signal that you can “sow” something new in the days around 1 January in some areas or you can expect news. Pay attention to all new ideas and thoughts that occur to you spontaneously. Pay attention to every newcomer around you, since they are not accidental.

In January, almost all the planets will be focused on Capricorn. This sign will have a common meaning, related to progress, ambitions, political structures and public administration. Thus, January will impose some news that would make individual countries and political systems invincible, roughly speaking. The beginning of the month contains a planetary picture which implies some tensions in the air. But this is not a sign of something "scary." Tensions will rather provoke you not to walk along known and comfortable paths.

Venus’s retrograde phase in Capricorn throughout the whole month will focus us on categories such as values, meaning, love, etc. Diplomatic relations may be violated, but this applies primarily to those that contain some weakness and lack of prospects.

At the individual level, personal relationships will be re-valued and those lacking practicality and meaning will die out, since some very serious problems will appear. Together with Venus, Jupiter will also undergo its retrograde phase. Therefore, the month will bring a clash of desires and opportunities as well as more pessimism. In this period, problems of human relations, especially intimate ones will come to the fore. We will go back to old problems in our current relationship, or to old relationships. Potential partners will also appear who will be very tempting, but not always worth paying the price for. For some reason, everybody will ask themselves the question "Is it worth it? Is there a benefit?" Capricorn symbolizes practicality, common sense, ambition and usefulness.

But in terms of finances and material possessions, January is a great month to get what belongs to you – all the profits and incomes that you deserve.

I will now write how January will affect the various sectors of the zodiac, the topics it will provoke and the type of events you can expect. I will make a brief analysis of all of them. Find your date of birth in the descriptions below.

29 December – 9 January

In January, you can expect very personal news. You will start the year with something new related to your appearance, physical condition, image, etc. Even the smallest thing that will happen to you will be very significant. Your love life and partnerships will be a hive of activity - the most serious emphasis of the month will be there. You will spend your energy mostly in terms of your home, family, children and love affairs.

10 January – 22 January

In January, you can expect news related to your ability to progress in life. You will complete a certain stage and rush towards new goals and desires. Benefactors and patrons may appear, but a breach of relations with friends is also possible. The most serious emphasis of the month will be on responsibilities, duties, working and living (household and health) habits, as well as on dealing with a challenge. You will spend your energy mostly in terms of your relations with close relatives, siblings or business initiatives.
