The Portuguese coach and former player of Panathinaikos, Paulo Sousa is one step away from taking the coaching bench at AEK. After Bayevich unexpectedly resigned, the name of Sousa takes one of the first places in the list of candidates of the president Stavros Adamidis. And while in the beginning Sousa argued that an advantage for him has his current team, things took unexpected turn and... are now in favor of the yellow and black team. They might consider him to be a very good coach, however because of poor results lately the management of Leicester City has suspended their contract with Sousa and thus he found himself without a job. In this case, the proposal of AEK came just in time. The representative of the Portuguese José Marinyo said that both parties are one step away from signing the contract.

In case that things do not go well with Sousa the management of AEK will try to attract on their side the Spaniard Jimenez. Sports website www.sport.gr informed that the manager of Jimenez is currently negotiating with the team. "My manager is negotiating with AEK and I do not know many details. I have told him the conditions under which I agree, not only financial but also for the competitions" - reported the 46-year-old coach. "I am a restless spirit and whenever there is interest on the part of any team, as it is in the case of AEK, Almeria, La Coruna and Real Zaragoza, I immediately sit and watch games. I've watched games of AEK and saw that under the management of the previous coach they played in a 4-2-3-1 system. I saw some things in the defense and attack. I wouldn’t like to discuss more things for right now. If the coach had not left I wouldn’t have said even this because it would be a lack of respect for him. "

One of the names mentioned by Adamidis was that of Slaven Bilic. The Croat, however, made it clear that he would not leave the national team of the country because of AEK.

Dusan Bayevich left AEK after a bereavement of the team against Olympiakos Volos. "I informed Mr. Adamidis and the players that I am resigning. I do not want to say anything more. Congratulations to Olympiakos Volos" - were the only words that Serb said after the game. AEK’s shareholders accepted the decision of Bayevich with a relief. Adamidis in turn said that although AEK and Bayevich had went their separate ways the Serb remains an integral part of the team and both sides have parted as friends. "As it befits a coach with such power and a team with great history."
