The charming boys won a victory over Mark Angelo and his "Dancing Night", Krystalia and her romantic "Butterfly in Athens" and Kostas Martakis and "Nobody stops me". The national competition was also a glamorous celebration of the 40th anniversary of Greece’s first participation in the Eurovision Song Contest and Eleftheria and Tamda, Sofia Bousou and Demi, Katy Garbi and Vegas, Kalomira and Klaidi appeared on its stage. Hosts of the show were singer Despina Vandi and actor George Kapoutzidis.

In its 40-year participation, Greece has won the contest only once, in 2005, with Elena Paparizou’s song "My Number One". This year, the star of the Greek pop scene who has Swedish citizenship too applied to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest.
