"We have no connection with Nazism"

All defendant deputies identified themselves before the investigator as "Greek nationalists" who have no connection with Nazism.

Mihaloliakos characterised the murder of Pavlos Fyssas as a "tragic event" and Ilias Kasidiaris added that this was a crime. Ioannis Lagos talked about a murder case and Panayotaros defined it as an "unfortunate event." Deputies claimed that their prosecution was politically motivated and attributed it to the impetuous advance of the party. Ilias Kasidiaris believes that he is involved in the case because of the local elections and the "high rates that he has in polls as a candidate for mayor of Athens." He also spoke about the declaration of the parliamentary secretary of New Democracy two days before the murder at Keratsini, according to which Golden Dawn must be defined as a criminal organisation.

Ioannis Lagos claimed that he was singled out because Golden Dawn seeks the second, even the first place in both constituencies in Piraeus. Pappas claimed that his involvement was due to charges that he submitted in terms of stolen credits, known as the black hole in PASOK’s funds.

Panayotaros and Michos, as well as Lagos, related the establishment of a trade union in Zoni, Perama, under the auspices of Golden Dawn, to the large number of defendants who are from this region. Panayotaros talked about bullies of the communist union PAME who considered Perama their territory, and Michos said that "We all know about PAME’s problems with workers who do not follow their line."
