The weather is expected to get cold and it will snow not only on the mountains in Greece but also in the plains, according to EMY’s extraordinary weather forecast. Snowing on the islands and in Athens is expected to start tonight.

It will snow on Monday and Monday night in Central Macedonia, Thessaly, eastern Greece, the island of Evbea and in the northern and eastern Peloponnese, and local roads will cover with ice.

Heavy snowfall is expected in northern Attica on Monday evening and in the night and most likely the centre of Athens will be snow-covered on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be moderately cold during the day but a sharp drop in temperatures is expected later in the afternoon.

North winds in the northern Aegean Sea will get strong gradually and they are expected to reach 9-10 on the Beaufort scale in the rest of country on Tuesday. Only big ferries will travel from Salamina to Piraeus and boats to Rafina will not sail.

Heavy rains overnight flooded a farm in the area Kato Alisos in Achaia where there were five people. Currently, they are being evacuated. The building was flooded because a nearby river overflowed. Three adults and two children are in a building in which the water has reached 1.80 m. Two fire-extinguishing cars and a boat are trying to get to them and save them from the flooded water, reported in.gr. According to the information, the people are well and are not injured.
