Greece’s opponents for the world football championship next year have been selected. The country will play in a group with South Africa, Argentina, Nigeria and South Korea. The South African beauty- the actress Charlize Theron, hosted the draw ceremony in Cape Town together with FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke.

The Mundial 2010 will begin with the South Africa- Mexico game on June 11 in 17:30 Greek time. The Greek national team will meet:

June 12, 16:00 Greece- South Korea

June 17, 16:00 Greece- Nigeria

June 22, 20:30 Greece- Argentina

The first game will take place in Port Elizabeth, the second one in Blumfondein and the third- in Polokuane. The top two teams in each group will meet for phase two at the semi-quarter finals. The draw for Greece has been assessed as relatively easy one by local commentators, despite the shameful memories of the losses to Argentina and Nigeria in 1994 in the USA. The same commentators point out that Rehagel’s today team has nothing in common with the Greek national team back then.
