"The new government is bargaining on the back of the Greek people, planning new layoffs, taxes, cuts in salaries and pensions, closures of hospitals and schools," says SYRIZA. The statement of the party reads, "The transfer of municipal police officers to the state police" is part of a general plan for the destruction of the local government services offered to the citizens." According to SYRIZA, the government is not ashamed to "throw" the people into the economic disaster and is interested only in keeping its seats and in meeting the requirements of the Troika.
Dimitris Hadzisokratis of Democratic Left points out that the decision concerning the municipal police discredits the importance of the transfer of employees. They should be transferred where necessary in order for the administration to function well. According to him, the consequences will be negative for the administration.
The Communist Party states that all public and private sector workers have to oppose the political agreement on thousands of redundancies, transfers and availability mode between the government and the Troika as the redundancies mean lack of adequate staff, especially in some public structures and services that are needed by families.
