and some eminent physicians, lawyers, people with other occupations and a large number of housewives, who could not logically have deposits in foreign banks.

Journalists Panagiotis Lampsias and George Trangas have firmly refused that they have bank accounts abroad. The first one has said that he had a bank account at HSBC some years ago through which he sent money to his sons who were studying abroad. George Trangas is quite a controversial media figure, who opened and closed several editions over the years and as evil gossip has it, he still owes unpaid wages to employees.

At the same time, according to sources, the specific list contains data for the deposits of the specific holders in the period 1995 - 2007, i.e. before the outbreak of the economic crisis. Economic Prosecutor Grigoris Peponis has ordered the economic crime unit to investigate whether they were paying their taxes over the years and whether the money was transferred to HSBC accounts in a lawful manner.

On the other hand, there is yet no response from the French authorities, although Kostas Vaxevanis insists that the list published is the "Lagarde list." One of the facts that questions it is that according to previously known information, the "Lagarde list" for the fate of which Evangelos Venizelos and George Papaconstantinou failed to agree, contains 1,991 names, whereas the published one contains 2,059 names.

In any case, in his article to the list, Kostas Vaxevanis had written that among the names were those of people who have plundered the Greek state. In support of his words, his lawyer Harris Ikonomopoulos said, "Obviously, this list contains the names of people, who are suspected to evade taxes."
