In particular, in April 2012 the industrial production index decreased by 2.2 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
The average index for the period January-April 2012 compared with same period in 2011, reported a decline of 6.3 percent.
The detailed data of the Greek Statistical Services show that the decline in industrial production is due to:
- Reduction of 5.1 percent of the index of production in the mining industry, due to the reduction of the indices of mining coal and metal ores.
- Reduction of 23 percent of the index of production in manufacturing, due to a reduction in the indices of drinks, in the printing industry, in basic metals, apparatus, equipment and furniture.
- Reduction of 4.6 percent of the electricity index.
- Reduction of 1.0 percent of the index for water.
In the first four months of 2012 a drop in industrial production of 6.3 percent was reported due to the following index changes:
- Reduction of 1.5 percent of the index of production in the mining industry.
- Reduction of 7.4 percent of the index of production in the processing industry.
- Reduction of 5.1 percent of the index of electricity.
